We already knew MLB The Show 20 was on the way for PlayStation 4 in March 2020, but on Monday, the news Xbox fans have been waiting for finally arrive.

Per Sony and MLB, the MLB The Show series will no longer be a Sony exclusive, and the game is likely headed to Xbox and perhaps PC beginning in 2021. This expansion is a part of a new multi-year, multi-platform extension to Sony’s partnership with MLB and MLBPA.

Here is a tweet from the Xbox and Nintendo of America accounts:

Ever since the MLB 2K series was canceled in 2014, there hasn’t been a major baseball franchise available for Xbox, Nintendo or PC. Lesser titles like RBI Baseball couldn’t close the gap, and while the Super Mega Baseball series is fantastic, it’s not a simulation. If the MLB The Show series does land on the other consoles, it would become an automatic must-have for any baseball fans who exclusively own a Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

In fact, the potential PC version could be the most exciting. Most sports games launch a modding community once it hits PC, and depending upon the creations, the sport of baseball might have the most impressive mods.

Like many virtual baseball fans, I’m excited to see this come to fruition in the future.
