Your Xbox Scarlett console could be updated with this killer Microsoft upgrade – Express
If you’re looking to upgrade from your current Xbox One setup than the upcoming Xbox Scarlett might be your favoured choice.
Microsoft has announced that they are upgrading their next gaming machine to compete against their most powerful rivals.
And right now, that would be Sony’s PS5 and the more expensive PC setups.
The Xbox brand will get a serious refresh with the launch of the Xbox Scarlett, which still has a lot of holes in its specs sheet.
But we know that Microsoft is looking to make their next console run as smoothly as possible.
There’s already been mention of possible 8K support in the future, but now the tech giant is talking up the possible frame rate upgrade.
The current Xbox One X currently offers the best console setup on most games, with desktop PCs providing the highest support.
But high frame rates are also going to be a guarantee on the Xbox Scarlett, thanks mainly to the planned CPU upgrade being worked on.
Expecting a bump over the previous Xbox One X is normal, especially when you consider the age of the current generation.
And during a new interview, an Xbox exec revealed that 4K visuals with 120 FPS will not be out of the question.
Talking with Xbox Official Magazine, Aaron Greenberg provided more insight into the planned launch of the next Xbox console.
“With the next-gen, I think you’ll see a big upgrade in CPU because we really want to make sure that you don’t have any compromises with the framerates,” Greenberg reveals.
“Yes, we can do 4K, but we can also do 120 frames per second. So I think that type of capability will be something that people don’t see today.”
It certainly sounds like things will be getting competitive between Sony and Microsoft with their next consoles.
Both companies are talking about how fast their new gaming machines and how little loading time there will be.
Xbox Scarlett and PS5 consoles are scheduled to launch holiday 2020, although an exact date has yet to be revealed.
And while both consoles have release dates locked in for next year, there will be some differences fans will want to know about.
Both hope to support 8K visuals when the tech becomes more widespread, but Microsoft has yet to comment on future VR support.
Meanwhile, Sony has locked in virtual reality support for the PS5, while Microsoft is more interested in expanding its platform reach.
This will include launching Project xCloud, a new streaming service that will bring Xbox games to mobile devices.
This will eventually include Scarlett games and while separate from the console, will remain part of a shared ecosystem.
xCloud tests have begun in the United States, which includes free access to games like Halo 5.
And more could be revealed about the Scarlett and xCloud at Microsoft’s upcoming XO event in November.
